An unsolicited email arrives in Susan’s inbox. She doesn’t recognise the sender but it has been sent directly to her so, intrigued, she decides to open the email attachment as instructed. There are no consequences this time around but Susan realises it may could easily have been a scam or security risk. She alerts her manager, who decides to proactively test how other members of the team would respond to similar threats, and also to provide some base-level security training. As a result, IT security is enhanced across the company, best-practice procedures are reinforced, and employees’ personal data is better protected.
